Infrared light is the invisible part of the sun’s spectrum with the ability to penetrate human tissue to produce a host of health benefits. It is naturally occurring from the sun and is the basis for Infrared Saunas.  Infrared rays are the healthiest, penetrate in to your skin deeply and they dissolve harmful substances accumulated in your body. The infrared sauna uses light to create heat. A traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air, typically at temperatures between 180-220F, which in turn warms your body. An infrared sauna heats your body directly without warming air around you, maintaining a temperature no greater than 150F.  Since Infrared Sauna Therapy heats the body directly rather than simply warming the air, it raises the core body temperature and produces a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where most toxins reside. Infrared saunas help your body release a number of toxins including heavy metals like mercury, lead, and environmental chemicals. 1. How to prepare? 

Before entering the sauna it is important that you are hydrated. You may bring your own water into the sauna or large bottled water is available for purchase. If you are looking to achieve weight loss benefits, we recommend you attend ACQUA  after a workout so your heart rate is already increased. Please make sure you come with a clean face, free of any makeup to avoid clogging your pores.  

2. Are the saunas sanitary? 

Yes. We sanitize saunas between uses, but also know that infrared light is a natural disinfectant and kills any bacteria. Infrared is actually often used to sterilize medical equipment. And the saunas are made of cedar wood, which is also naturally antibacterial. 

3. How long are your sessions? 

Sauna therapy sessions are 40 minutes.  

4. Do you provide showers? 

Yes. We have a separate room you may use to shower after your session. We also have a "primp room" with blow dryers, deodorant, lotion, hair spray, and more.

 You may notice that your body continues to sweat for some time after a session will continue to release toxins.  

5. How often should I come in? 

The more time you spend in the sauna the better!  We suggest utilizing the sauna immediately following your workout to see the best weight loss results.   Also, great for jet lag!  

6. Who should NOT use a sauna? 

If you are unsure, you should consult with your physician. Do not use if pregnant, have serious inflammation, a fever, a communicable disease, hemophilia, or are intoxicated or dehydrated. You may also wish to consult with your physician regarding medications, if you are elderly, have cardiovascular or chronic conditions, insensitivity to heat, or a condition that affects your body’s ability to sweat. 

7. What should I wear?

Each sauna is completely private. You may choose to simply wrap in one of the provided towels or you may wear something comfortable and loose fitting such as workout attire or a bathing suit.  You can wear as much or as little as you would like while in the privacy of your sauna suite. 

8. What should I do while I sauna?

Relax and meditate, and allow the infrared heat to melt away any stress or fatigue you may be experiencing!   You can bring a book, magazine, or even your phone, headphones or tablet into the sauna to pass the time. If you are feeling more active, you may choose to do exercises such as stretching or yoga.

9. Can a friend join me in the sauna? 

Yes!  Our saunas will comfortably accommodate you and a friend.  When you schedule your appointment, please let us know if another person will be joining you. We recommend booking our YOGA sauna which is our larger sauna.  Please note that the sessions are priced per person.
